Srinagar, Sep 01 (KNO): National Conference MLA Javid Hassan Baig has appealed to Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi to reconsider his decision to tender his resignation and hold an open discussion with the party leadership amid differences.
In an open letter addressed to MP Ruhullah, MLA Baig, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said he was writing “not as a member of the National Conference, but as a companion and friend”.
“I respect your right to differ, but I am convinced that you can also play a more effective role for the people by staying within the party,” Baig said.
He urged Ruhullah to meet NC leadership especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah before taking any final decision.
“Perhaps many misunderstandings will be cleared and a viable path will emerge,” he said.
Baig stressed that there should be no compromise on principles, while calling for an effort to move forward together despite differences.
“Please reconsider your decision once again,” he appealed.
The Baramulla MLA said Jammu and Kashmir needed political voices to be strengthened rather than divided.
It is noteworthy that, the appeal comes days after National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah asked Ruhullah to resign from the Lok Sabha and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
MP Ruhullah, responding to the remarks in Tangmarg on August 25, had said he respected the veteran leader and would respond to his demand in a few days—(KNO)
